Our Approach
Slowly at first, so that it can move decisively later.
- 01
Conversation
We begin without drawings. How you wake, cook, gather, retreat and host tells us more than a written brief ever does.
- 02
Site
What is already on the land sets the terms: the mature trees, the direction of the light, where the wind comes from. The plan is arranged around them rather than over them.
- 03
Concept
A spatial narrative takes shape: whether the house wants to be one volume or several, where it opens, and the order in which you meet its rooms.
- 04
Material
Stone, timber, plaster and textile are chosen together and in daylight, as one palette rather than as separate specifications.
- 05
Detail
Joinery, hardware, edges and reveals are drawn at full size, then resolved in person on site with the craftspeople making them. Quality is decided here.
- 06
Living
The house is handed over deliberately unfinished, with room left for the objects and the years that will complete it.
“There’s always a temptation to fill a space, to justify the budget with objects.”
